Ninja Lesson Plan - October 1

Dates:

10/5/2025

-

Warm-up: 5-7 min

Like normal! Some quick cardio and stretches to get the kiddos ready! For higher levels have them roll out wrists and ankles and try a bridge or two (esp if you have kiddos who are working bhs) to make sure their backs are stretched out!

Stations: (1min and 15secs for Lil to make sure you have time for ninja games practice at end of class! White+ is still 2.5min and 2min during quest week!)

Wall Side:

  1. Wall: TicTacs/TicTac combos or Up the Wall and down the pole
  2. Rock Wall - Lils and White can try hanging from the rock wall while higher levels can try going across it. If higher levels (like green+) want to try their elevated websters there they can - just don't let them do it on the side closest to the wall because they might kick it.
  3. Cargo Net Bridge: Kids can try to walk through it like a bridge or even try to go sidewise across along the outside of it. There's a gray beam in/next to it for Lils who might need a little extra help getting across. Lil/Mini can also try to just climb up and down the outside of it/hang from the outside as well.
  4. Trampoline:
    1. Lil/White: Shapes! Have them work on tuck jumps, straddle jumps, pike jumps! These shapes are not only important to know for higher level skills, but are a quick easy way for them to get combo points in ninja games too!
    2. Yellow +: let them pick a skill from their level to work on! With ninja games coming up, we want them to have a little bit more freedom in the skills they're working on, so they're ready for the "openness" of the ninja courses.
  5. Vaults:
    1. Lil/White: safety, turn, monkey up
    2. Yellow: thief, speed, kash, twist
    3. Green: Kong, dash, reverse
    4. Blue: double kong, kong safety out
    5. Purple: rainbow dash, mega kash
  6. Handstands:
    1. Lil: Donkey kicks
    2. White: Starting in a lunge and kicking up
    3. Yellow: Handstand holds
    4. Green: HS walks/HS rolls
    5. Blue: HS holds (7+ secs), Backward extension on floor
    6. Purple: HS pushups

Bar Side

  1. Bar
    1. Lil: Window escapes, big swings
    2. White: Window escapes, regrips
    3. Yellow: Window escape 180, pullovers
    4. Green: Pull over safety vault, pullover cast/cast 180
    5. Blue: Flying gainers, pullover cast 360
    6. Purple: Reverse flyaway, pullover cast 360 regrip
  2. Floor skills!
    1. Lil: Cartwheels
    2. White: Cartwheels
    3. Yellow+: Let them pick a skill from their level! Again, with Ninja Games coming up, this is a good opportunity for them to work on skills specific to what they're wanting to use in the games. Just make sure they have the perquisites to work on that skills (i.e. a green ninja should not be working on a roundoff if they can't do a cartwheel).
  3. Cluster Mats!
    1. This station is a BIG Ninja Games prep station! Throughout the gym - front gym, especially - there'll be clusters of mats for them to use for their combos. For Lils/White you might have to give them more of an idea of what to do/more help (i.e. monkey jump up and front roll across, then backwards roll down the wedge). For Yellow+ try to let them think of their own combos. You can of course guide/help them think of skills to do there, like vaults or round off of the mat, bhs down the wedge, etc, but we really want them to try to think of their own combos using the three mats available to them.
      1. If you have any questions on what to do with cluster mats or how to help kids with them, please let me or Jacob know and we can both help give you some ideas and a more in-depth explanation of them! :)
  4. Kicks - Same kicks from their level as the last few weeks. Just make sure they have the prerequisite kick needed - blue should not be working 540 if they don't have a tornado!
  5. Barrel
    1. Lil: Spider-mans
    2. White: Bridges
    3. Yellow: Front tuck timer or if they have a good bridge, bhs w/barrel
    4. Green: Bhs, front tuck timers, back tuck timers
    5. Blue: Bhs, Back tuck on floor (if they have a decent one on trampoline - don't let their first ever time doing a back tuck be on the floor lol)
    6. Purple: Any standing skill from their level
  6. Workout Station!
    1. Lil can do something simpler like pushups or sit-ups or even superman holds
    2. White+: pick a workout relevant to their level or even let the kiddos pick their own as long as they're working out!

As always, first week is combo work and second week is quest! For Lil have them do Ninja Games practice both weeks since Ninja Games is this month!
